"You can't connect the dots looking forward...so you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future" -Steve Jobs
Welcome~Hello! I'm Isabel, a Ph.D. student at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. I started this blog to keep track of all the wonders and obstacles that I will encounter during my PhD journey. A few years from now, when a freshly printed diploma is handed to me, I want to be able to look back to this blog, at all the little dots that let me to graduation. :)
What got me into science?I can never forget the moment when I first witnessed the rhythmic beatings of a stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte under the microscope. I remember thinking, "Life is so incredibly breathtaking!" Now if only researchers and scientists can communicate its beauty without putting people to sleep...Being a science nerd myself, I want to use my artistic skills to spark public's interest in science and technology!
What motivates me?Everyone close to me know of my passion for stem cell research. As someone whose life was greatly influence by cancer, I truly believe that stem cell research holds the key to understand cancer and many other debilitating diseases.
